Club training was scheduled to recommence on Wednesday 12th January.

Unfortunately, due to the recent COVID outbreak and issues with staff availability, the Arena Centre closure will be extended until January 30th.

At this stage we anticipate being able to resume training on Wednesday 2nd February.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, Sydney Uni Fencing Club training is cancelled until further notice.

The Annual General Meeting will be held on 4 May, at 2:15pm, in the Meeting Room of The Arena Sports Centre. All club members are welcome.

The Sydney Uni Fencing Club 2019 Handicap Foil competition will be held on Saturday, 9 February, at 12:00.

For those who are not familiar with our Handicap Foil event, it is a competition designed to put everyone on a level playing field, by giving points handicaps. So new fencers might get a handicap of +3, meaning that they only need to score 2 points to win a 5-hit bout. At the other extreme, very good fencers may be on handicaps of -5, or even more.

The competition will start at 12:00 midday, in our usual training venue. The entry fee is $15.

The competition is open to both members and non-members, although non-members will have to pay a SUSF visitor fee as well as the entry fee.

The Arena Sports Centre is operating on restricted hours over Christmas. As a result:

  • There will be NO Fencing Club training on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th of December.
  • There WILL be training on Saturday 15th, but only until 3pm. This will be our last training session for the year.
  • Club training will resume in 2019 on Wednesday 9th January.

Our end-of-year celebration will be after training on the 15th, at 3:30pm in The Rose Hotel, 52 -54 Cleveland St
